The Craft Room - The Possibilities are Endless!

Art Creations Friday ... Mermaid

I found a new art challenge blog! www.artcreationsfriday.blogspot.com. Each Friday there's a post of an image. You incorporate it into an artpiece of your prefered media and post it on your blog. I was inspired with the blue and green tones of the given background and thought 'enchanting mermaid' so here she is, wand in hand. What Fun! Enjoy! - Amy

Here's a pic of me and my little love, Savannah Kay in the craft room. Oh, the wonders of what we'll get to create together when she gets a little older. I can't wait!

February - Mind Wide Open Entry

Each month http://www.mind-wideopen.blogspot.com/ has a project competition. The image posts on the 1st and everyone has until the 7th at midnight to send in a pic of their artwork. This months tag word was dream. I had loads of fun being artsy fartsy. I had this old bottle sitting in the craft room for awhile and I chose to decorate it. I filled the inside with metallic painted tissue paper, Paper shreds and twirls of all different textures, patterns and colors and of course sprinkled some glitter in. The outside was done and redone. I couldn't quite make up my mind on using the transluscent image that I first printed or a more opaque tattered one. Well, I went with the more opaque. I added some wire, beads and little ties of ribbon. I love my ribbon! I made little charms by printing the image and the words dream and believe on shrinky dink paper and attached them to the wire. A few butterflies, pearls and a little pink tulle then, I topped it off with a decorated star reading ' never bottle your dreams for they will become lost forever' and my master piece is complete. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. Be sure to go onto http://www.mind-wideopen.blogspot.com/ to vote on your favorite entry before Feb. 14th.

Check out some of my favorite blogs ...

Just like shopping or chatting online is a release for some women, art is a release for me. I love to block out some time and create. I love being amongst my artsy fartsy things and putter around. Whether it be to make a card for someone or to straighten my ribbon. It is so important to my mental health. I can't explain it. It makes me feel so lovely. Here are a few of my favorite sites. I encourage you to create something that makes you feel lovely. Don't give me that crap about not having a creative bone in your body. EVERYONE is creative in some way. Find it! Smooches, Amy.

I love Art Chix Studio for Vintage Art and German Foil (wings, crowns, borders, flowers, etc. in beautiful metallics) and lots of fun Altered Art Ideas. http://www.artchixstudio.com/ I'll be entering the 'twinchie' True Colours' art swap in March. I can't wait to see what I come up with. I've never made twinchie's before but, love the concept (2"x2" little pieces of artwork) I'll post what I make so you can see what I'm up to. Also, check out the owner of Artchix blog (Helga): www.myartisticlife.typepad.com

My newest find is http://www.mind-wideopen.blogspot.com/ They have a monthly art challenge. On the 1st of every month, they post an art pic to be used any way you like along with a word for inspiration and you have to complete and email a pic of what you created in by the 7th at midnight. Then, they're judged and if you win you get a gift certificate to their online store. Fun!

My favorite rubber stamp company is of course Stampin' Up! I have a fabulous demonstrator if you need one. Kathy Morgan in Abq. rocks! Check out their site: http://www.stampinup.com/

Have fun creating!
